Worked Examples
Count forward from 36
Say 36, then think one more.
Continue 37, 38, 39; after 39 comes 40.
The next five numbers are 37, 38, 39, 40, 41.
Count by tens
Begin at 10. Each new number has one more ten.
Say 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and keep the zero in the ones place.
Continue 60, 70, 80, 90, 100.
Common Misconceptions
Starting over at 1 when given a starting number

Skipping a decade number such as 40
Use a hundred chart and notice what follows 39.
Counting by tens as 10, 11, 12
